Marsha Moyo: ‘Women Celebrated’

Six months after her return from Burj-al-Arab Dubai, the only 7-star hotel in the world, where she was contracted for a three months performance, 2003 double KORA All Africa awards nominee for ‘Revelation of the Year’ and ‘Best Female Artist-Southern Africa,’ and 2003 SAMA (South African Music Awards) nominee for ‘Best African Artist,’ singer Marsha Moyo, creates Women Celebrated.

Written, composed and sung by Marsha, the lyrics are deep, reflective and encompassing of women and girls all over the world. For the song project, Women Celebrated is produced in six different versions, musically most indigenous with the six continents of the world. For the CD booklet, Marsha identified, requested and received participation from six female world figures for their respective photographs, a short feature on their lives synonymous with the lyrics and for each of them to share a meaningful personal remark on offering renewed hope. The professional, racial, religious and social diversity of the women is well thought out. The foreword for the project is by Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, of both North American and Middle Eastern heritage, who is a UN Expert Advisor, President, Patron and an active member of over thirty international community development organisations. While the project features Jane Goodall PhD, DBE of Europe, otherwise known as the ‘Chimpanzee lady’, Nobel Peace laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from Asia, internationally-heralded author Marjorie Agosin PhD from South America, one of Africa’s most renowned freedom fighters Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and sports woman extraordinaire, Australian Kay Cottee, AO.

For Women Celebrated, Marsha has received two KORA nominations for Best African Female Artist- Southern Africa and Best Video. She begins her first world tour mid-December 2004.
