Ladies Start Searching Through Your Drawers…

The Welsh “sex bomb” is coming back as TOM JONES and it will be anything but “cold outside”.

Tom Jones, aka Mark Davies, hails from “Tom Jones country”, born in Pontypridd, just down the road from Tom Jones’ birthplace and a couple of years after Tom. Mark has been singing live for almost all his life, and those of you who recall the Neil Diamond Tribute Act last December will also recall what a great showman he is. The Chicago Rock Café chain describes him as one of their ‘most polished and vocally realistic tribute acts’ and The Jumping Jaks chain of bars’ newsletter called him ‘the best Tom Jones we’ve ever had – and we’ve had a few!’

Tom Jones himself has been a performer for nearly fifty years and is best known for songs such as “Delilah”, “Green Green Grass of Home”, “Sex Bomb”, “It’s Not Unusual”, “What’s New Pussycat” and many more. In addition to this he has also produced a prolific amount of albums, right from his debut album released on 1May 1965 called “Along Came Jones” featuring the breakthrough hit “It’s Not Unusual” right through to his latest album “Tom Jones and Jools Holland” released in September 2004 and described as “the collaboration of the year” when Tom 'The Voice' Jones and Jools 'The Piano' Holland released their joint foray of musical delight.

Mark sings all the hits and more, fully live. The atmosphere he generates is electric and once you hear him perform such great numbers, you will realise that Mark Davies is not just another Tom Jones look-alike, Tom Jones sound alike or Tom Jones impersonator; it is like spending an evening with the LEGEND himself. And whilst the LEGEND was unavailable for comment at the time of going to print I am sure he would agree.

On Saturday, 10 December, Mark will be performing the full ‘Tom Jones’ set at the Hotel Inter-Continental in aid of Kasisi Orphange, Manda Hill Street Kids Project, St. Lawrence Special Needs School and Home of Hope in Misisi Compound and ‘The House of Moses’. Other performances, also in aid of Kasisi Orphange, Manda Hill Street Kids Project, St. Lawrence Special Needs School and Home of Hope in Misisi Compound and ‘The House of Moses’, will be on Sunday 4 December at Maramba River Lodge in Livingstone where Mark will be kicking off this years “African Tour” at the home of “Mosi oau Tunya” with an unplugged show; a provisional date in Choma at Gwembe Safaris on Wednesday 7 December and ending with the usual “Live & Unplugged” on the Green Green Grass of Lilayi Lodge

The funds raised will help make Christmas time very special for over 500 children.  All the funds raised will be placed to the benefit of the charities and will be fully accounted for and no funds whatsoever will be deducted for administrative purposes.

It is gratifying to know that, through the continued support of the business community, companies and public who attend these fundraising events and donate wonderful prizes for raffles and auctions, poor unfortunate children with no real prospects or hopes at Christmas are remembered and their lives brightened at this special time of the year.
