Mazabuka Mumblings

MUSIKILI SCHOOL'S CRAFT FAIR AND SWIMATHON on November12 was a great success from a fund raiser and community get together point of view. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the organisers, Fiona Marx, Theresa Taylor and Mandy Wheeler and her team of Swimathon co-ordinators. The sponsored swim which took place throughout the day of the Fair, in perfect, stinking hot weather conditions went extremely well and Mandy would like to thank swimmers and sponsors alike.

KEEPING THE PROMISE TO STOP AIDS the theme for World Aids Day this year is “Stop HIV AIDS Keep The Promise”. November 25 is the day that Mazabuka and more especially Nakambala Sugar Estates will get together to strengthen their resolve to continue the fight against the pandemic and also to think about those that have already died from the disease. One would hope that people think seriously and carefully about keeping promises to stop the HIV infection, particularly parents. It is hard to fathom why people continue to have unprotected sex and sex with more than one person when they have children to support. Zambia has one of the highest orphan populations in the world, so up to now many people have reneged on their determination to “keep the promise.”
