Rally 2006

This years’ rally will start from Holiday Inn at 3.30 pm on Friday 21 July and finish at Holiday Inn at 4 pm on Sunday 23 July. There are many spectator points including the Super Special Stage which will be held at the Lusaka Motor Club at 4 pm on 21st July. Of the 25 competitors expected, there will be entrants from Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and of course Zambia.

This is the sixth round of the FIA African Rally Championship. Entrants include the 2005 ARC champions Muna Singh and David Sihoka. Azar Anwar from Kenya is currently leading the 2005 ARC championship with 15 points followed by Patrick Emontspool from Belgium with 14 points and Richard Robinson from Zimbabwe with 12 points. Consequently, it should be a competitive and exciting rally.

Organising a rally of this magnitude would not be possible without a committed and hardworking organising committee and tjhis years committee have worked hard to ensure that this year’s rally will be the biggest and best yet.

This event is being sponsored by Total Zambia, Holiday Inn, Toyota Zambia, Madison Insurance, Gaberona Ltd, Autoworld, Lusaka Hotel, Group 3 Security, Amerex Fire Equipment and Celtel.

The rally is a special stage rally run on closed roads which would not have been possible without the cooperation and assistance received from the many farmers whose private roads we will be using. Thanks go to these people as well.
