Choma Chat
A rather sad
time for Choma. It seems that we have to say farewell to a number of
families in the district over the next few months. We wish them
well and we shall miss them lots.
Polocrosse:
Another successful tournament was held recently. Unfortunately
the Choma sections didn't figure in the top honours, but they and
the horses played their hearts out. Considering we are now the
smallest club in the country we came out extremely well. We
fielded 8 players, could have made it 9 except one of our top
players clashed heads with his horse the weekend before and came off
worst! Leopards Hill Club is now 40 strong and Lusaka South also a
big club. Thanks to all those Choma ladies who provided such lovely
teas. New interested players will be hardly welcomed..... they will
be fawned over!!!.......so anyone interested out there??? If so,
contact any Beckett, Counsell, Davies or Lilo.
Savanna: It
has been a little while since I set foot in this little haven in the
midst of Choma. And wow, what a lot of lovely changes have been
made. Firstly the menu ... a very diverse and interesting variety
of snacks and/or full scale meals on offer. Burgers, Pizzas,
toasted Samis, Tortillos, Fish, Steak, Chips to name a few. The
famous Savanna Cooler is still there and the coffee is real now.
Even desserts and sweets to finish off. Then a browse round the
plants on offer, trees (those beautiful environmentally friendly
ones that you and I can't propogate), and roses. And finally a
variety of Zambian goodies, jewellery, candles, coffee, books,
baskets, keyrings etc. Fiona
Marx is selling her koeksisters - not to be missed. Savanna also
hosts a very friendly and informal Book Club on the first Friday of
the month. All welcome to come and swop and talk about Books.

Tennis: Plans
are afoot to bring another court at the Sports Club into working
order and then we can start holding Mexican Tournaments again.
Anyone keen to donate some labour for a day or even a few hours,
please contact Patrick Danckwerts.
Cricket:
They're off again! Unfortunately the cricket pitch won't be up and
running this year, but there are matches being held in Lusaka
throughout the season, all aspiring Freddies or Kevins to gather for
cricket nets practice every Wednesday afternoon.
Zesco: Zesco
have recently upgraded their service by laying optic fibre
transmission lines. We expected huge disruptions, but not
so.....In fact they finished the job in half the time. So
congratulations to our local team!
Chibila Camp,
Itezhi Tezhi: Bookings for this idyllic fishing spot through Tony or
Eva Middleton.
